These are my current gears for my videos in Youtube and my photos in my Instgram account.
Google Pixel 6A
Applied for a credit card and got this phone for free. The Goodle Pixel 6A will replaced my Samsung Prime 7 as an "expensive ipod". Since the camera is better than my main phone, Samsung S20 Plus, it will also be my camera whenever I need to shoot and post in my Instagram. I will not use this phone for videography as I think my Samsung S20 Plus has better features for shooting videos.
Samsung S20 Plus
This is main my phone. Dad brought this phone for me on 5th November 2020. It is his way of show his love. He just cannot stand it when I am using a phone that is not up to his standard and his standard is kind of high. I was using my Sony phone at that time and I love it's camera result. After using Samsung S20 Plus, I fall in love with the phone picture and video quailty. Most of my videos in Youtube and my pictures in instagram are shoot by this phone at the moment.
My Samsung S20 Plus had green and pink lines appearing on the screen in 2022 and lucky Samsung Service centre change the screen for me for free. I heard that the lines may appear again but it has not happen yet. I hope that will not happen as this is a really good phone that I love.
Sony A6400
I purchased this camera from my dad for $1000 as he no longer wanted it. He prefers an iPhone because it is smaller and easier to carry around. You don't have to change the lens in an iPhone. We borrowed this camera for our Europe trip and KJ took lots of nice photos with it. I felt that this camera was underutilised under my Dad's ownership.
I have no plans to buy a camera with lenses, so I kind of feel painful in my wallet. I was happy with my phones. Well, I do hope to get some good pictures for my Instagram account with this camera, especially with the prime lens.
Canon AV-1
This was an impulse purchase. KJ was really into cameras and he was researching deep into them. Maybe he really wanted a film camera but I was thinking about the cost of the films at that time. We were doing some window shopping in Peninsula Shopping Centre and Peninsula Plaza. I do not have any intention to buy any camera on that day.
We were just doing lots of window shopping, we even asked a few questions on some camera. As usual, KJ will be surfing on his phone while doing window shopping. Suddenly, he requested that we go to a shop in Boon Keng industry area to look at some cameras. He showed me a camera and told me that is it a great discount.
Oh well, we ended up in that shop/office. The camera was sold out. KJ was disappointed. I felt that a lot of places uses these kind of tactics to lure us into their shop or website only to realise that the item was sold out. We decided to go home then.
Half way on our way home, as usual, KJ showed me a camera in Carousell. He asked me if we can go to Punggol and meet the seller. I was like "What? this is too sudden". I told him that if he message the seller and the seller agreed to meet us to let us take a look at the camera without obligation in 1 hour time, I will agreed to go. I was actually very surprise that the seller agreed to KJ request and we had to go to Punggol.
We meet the seller in Punggol MRT station and we chatted with the seller for almost 45 minutes on the camera. He was showing KJ how to use the camera and they were talking non-stop. It was difficult not to buy the camera from the seller and we ended up paying $220 for the camera. KJ paid half of it.
GoPro Hero 10
After shooting a lot with my phone, I have decided that I wanted an action camera. I spotted DJI osmo action camera for SGD$335 in Shopee. Using my remaining coins and discount, I manage to push the cost down to SGD$323. I was so happy after the purchase. Very soon, I realised that the seller was not responsing. I messaged him, and he told me that this is a pre-order item. I have to wait for 2 months. I have checked the seller review before I made the purchase. He has 5 stars for his shop. His reviews were good. So I waited patiently. After 2 months, Shopee cancel my order. The seller did not response and shopee had to cancel my order. There is nothing I can do, I cannot even give the seller a bad rating.
After being annoyed for a few days, I decided to settle for something else. I found GoPro had a big discount for their Hero 10. From their official website, the cost was SGD$530, reduced from SGD$808.98. I did not take long to make my purchase.
I still have my ZHIYUN Smooth X Gimbal Stabilizer, which I used with my S20. I seldom use it now since I have my GoPro.
